When building a fitness themed website or blog, one of the things you’ll have to think carefully about is the design.
If you decide to use WordPress then you would just need to find a fitness or gym-focused theme and your problem is solved. Using a generic or all-purpose theme doesn’t quite communicate what your website is all about. If you do use a generic theme then you’ll have to do a lot of extra work to achieve the desired result.
I’ve done some looking around one various WordPress theme clubs and found a handful of feature-rich fitness themes that are really great when it comes to aesthetic, design and functionality.
1. Fitness Theme from MyThemeShop
One of the best WordPress themes I found was this Fitness Theme from MyThemeShop. They describe the theme as a “fully-optimized premium WordPress theme “fit” for your health and fitness website.
This theme was built more for a fitness blog than for a gym website but it is beautiful and can be adapted into whatever you want.
There are lots of features packed into this theme just like most other MyThemeShop themes. Fully-responsive, SEO-ready and speed optimized, this theme is perfect if performance is most important to you.
Besides performance, the Fitness Theme features a very attractive design that will catch the eyes of visitors. There are 7 unique homepage sections which means that you can change up the design of the homepage and put it the way you like. The sliders and carousels included are very easy to customize.
The blog section has 2 different layouts to choose from and you can change the fonts and header design to make it your own. Furthermore, the easy-to-use options panel is packed with customization options so you can change things up as you like.
If you’d like to add a shop to your website, then this can be easily done as the theme is compatible with Woocommerce and has options built into it just for this.
There a lots of features, too many to mention here that will make this theme just as exciting to setup as it would be for your visitors to admire. Check out the full set of features here.
2. Gym – Fitness by Vamtam
Perfect for a gym or yoga studio, this theme was made by Vamtam themes and is sold through Themeforest.
Timetables/schedules, classes/events and opening hours are all built into this theme purposefully because these are all features needed for this type of business.
There are a plethora of features that come with the Gym-Fitness theme including different header layouts and different homepage layouts. Like all themes on this page and as all modern themes should be, this theme is fully mobile responsive and it’s also Gutenberg compatible.
Four predefined skins and lots of customization options allow you to build a unique website with a unique design without any programming skills. You can also change fonts and footer styles easily.
Thinking about adding a shop to your website? Woocommerce is supported and there are options built in to allow you to do this.

4. FlexUp from Template Monster
Like FitPress, this theme is another one that comes from Template Monster. It’s called FlexUp and it’s another great WordPress theme made specially for fitness and gym-focused websites.
Expect all the same features and customization of the aforementioned theme.
While FitPress doesn’t include the demo images in their download, FlexUp includes all images as a bonus.
FlexUp has an incredibly clean look for a WordPress theme and can be used for any project related to fitness, gym, crossfit, dance or even a blog.
5. Gym Edge by RadiusTheme
RadiusTheme is another WordPress themes provider that builds some great looking themes. I found Gym Edge on Themeforest and loved the design and features.
This beast of a theme has many great features and also has a perfect 5 star rating from 45 users at the time of writing this blog post.
Featuring 10 different home pages, you can have a unique styled homepage with one of four different header designs. As this is a theme perfect for a gym site, there are certain elements built into this theme to serve that purpose including a BMI calculator and a schedule.
A powerful customizer lets you choose from different options that you can preview on your theme live and there are also 21 custom addons with over 42 layouts to choose from. These include section titles, pricing boxes, testimonials, trainers and schedules.
If you like you can also import any of the theme’s demos with just one click and customize from there.
As usual, this theme is mobile responsiveness and SEO-friendly so that you can enjoy great search engine rankings and good cross-device user experience.
6. Fitness Theme from RadiusTheme
Gym Edge looked great so I checked out the RadiusTheme website and found another good Fitness Theme perfect for fitness blogs or gym websites.
This theme contains a lot of useful features including two different homepage layouts, special pages for classes, schedules, trainers and blog pages.
Like all modern themes, Fitness Theme by RadiusTheme is fully mobile responsive so it looks great on all devices. It’s also SEO friendly and there are lots of customization options in the theme options on the backend. Elementor Page Builder is also included so that you can build the perfect gym website with this amazing theme.
Whether you’re thinking about blogging, building an affiliate website, getting an online presence for your gym or just giving your fitness website a makeover, any one of these six WordPress themes would be a great starting point. They’re all beautiful and packed with features to make your visitors remember you and want to visit again.
Which one of these fitness WordPress themes did you like best? Are you going to use it? Or tell me about one you found that isn’t listed here. Maybe I’ll add it to the list.
